How often should you actually service your car?

Most cars want a service every 10,000 to 15,000 km or every 12 months, whichever comes first, but the real answer is in your log book. Here is what matters.

Follow the log book

Your manufacturer sets the schedule for a reason. Sticking to it keeps your warranty valid and catches small problems before they become big bills.

Time matters as much as kilometres

Even if you barely drive, oil and fluids break down over time. A car that does 5,000 km a year still wants its annual service.

Why skipping it costs more

Old oil, worn brakes and tired filters do not announce themselves until something fails. A service is cheap insurance against a tow truck and a big repair.
